ISRO Young Scientist Program for School Students – Application process to begin for 2020 session from Feb 3

Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO will be organising Young Scientist Programme 2020 or Yuva Vigyani Karyakram (YUVIKA) 2020 this year also. The programme was organized last year to encourage scientific curiosity in the school children to which it received an overwhelming response. This year too, ISRO is planning a phase 2 of the same programme in extension to last year’s YUVIKA 2019. Dr K Sivan had announced last year itself that ISRO will be making the Young Scientist Programme an annual activity.

Young Scientist Programme 2020: Who can Apply

All students who have completed their 8th and are currently pursuing 9th grade are eligible to apply for the programme. The students can belong to CBSE, ICSE or any state board that is recognised by the Government of India.  Class 8 and Class 10 students are not eligible to apply for the exam. Also, 60% weightage will be given to candidate’s 8th standard marks, his/her NCC participation, his/her district or state level participations etc. Moreover, 15% benefit will be available to all rural children.

  • The link will officially open on February 3, 2020
  • Fill in the application details and submit the form
  • Save the form for future reference

Young Scientist Programme 2020: Other Details

The programme will be held in ISRO or DOS centres located in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Shillong or Trivandrum. There will be no fee levied on the candidates who wish to apply for the programme and those selected for the programme will be accommodated in ISRO guest houses and all their expenditures like travel, food, course material etc will be borne by ISRO.
